WHY I LOVE THESE HEIRLOOMS
WHY I LOVE THESE HEIRLOOMS
CHOCOLATE PEPPER is an heirloom, open-pollinated pepper variety that produces dark, chocolate-colored bell peppers with exceptional sweetness at maturity. The large, lobed fruits will initially be green and darken as they ripen and have a rich smoky flavour. They have been grown for over 7,000 years in South and Central America. This variety was first mentioned in 1681 in Panama.
TASTING NOTE: Smokey & aromatic
HUNGARIAN YELLOW WAX peppers grow on vigorous, high yielding plants that reach 60cm in height. The peppers are long (10-15cm), sweet, and yellow in color, maturing to bright red. They are juicy and sweet and easy to de-seed. Their yellow colour is this beautiful lime-yellow that is one of the most beautiful peppers I have even seen. These peppers were first introduced to Hungary in the 1500's by invading Turks.
TASTING NOTE: Fresh & aromatic
TOPEPO ROSSO pepper are Italian pimento peppers with a squat, stout, apple- or tomato-like shape and thick, meaty walls. Ripe topepo rosso peppers start out green, eventually turning bright, deep red with a mild, sweet, slightly zingy flavor. It is also known as Christmas Peppers. Plants are good producers and need full sun for larger fruits. Peppers can get up to 8cm in size. These plant can grow for many years in an pot and get no bigger then 75cm tall and stay pretty much compact. Best of all they produce fruit all winter long!
TASTING NOTE: Meaty & Fruity
